This species is part of the canine family that lives in the African Sahel and is one of the fewer study canines because of its remote habitat and the color of its fur, which hides it in semi-desert regions. Because of that currently, it has no predators.

Physically, he bears a great resemblance to his most famous relatives. But it is still a relatively small canine weighing between 3.6 to 1.5 kilograms. 

One of the things that stands out the most is the large size of their ears, which compared to their relatives are larger, but among them, it is something very common.

Its fur is generally pale reddish blond that becomes pale in the belly area. Its tail is bushy, reddish brown, and with a black end.

Their most notable habits are the use of burrows during the day and then they leave it at night to look for food.

They also almost always live in groups of 3, 1 female and 2 males but they can also live in small family groups.

They feed mainly on berries, plants, rodents, and insects, it should also be noted that they can live almost without water since they take advantage of the water of their prey.
